Sun and Fog , Oxbow Pond.
Near Cenarth , Carmarthenshire, 2018
This image was made on a cold February morning, where I had an opportunity to go and make an image that I had previously visualised. The pool is located by the side of a busy road and was a place I looked at every time I passed it by.
I "visualised" it with fog and the sun in the frame and did a little research to determine when to go....and then waited for a foggy morning. When I arrived the sun was too low and the fog was too thick but it was an amazing hour or 2 waiting for this arrangement. The colours were spectacular but I had only 4 sheets of..... black and white film. As the sun came into position, the fog quickly started to dissipate and I managed this sheet and one other exposure. By the time I had loaded the 3rd sheet to be exposed the fog/sun relationship was too bright and the moment was gone.
One of those exposures where I really hoped it would look the way I had felt at the time. It was calm, still and quiet. Only the occasional passing car and the sound of birds in the greyness. It does look the way I wanted ... but the story of this sheet of film and the other 5 that formed my first attempt at home developing is not quite so ....calming. Maybe a Blog post one day !
