UK Film Photographer

I am a keen landscape photographer and based in West Wales in the UK. I have been interested in landscape photography for 20 years and learn something new every day. I have become seriously interested in going my own way, showing you what I respond to and how I see things .

I use a variety of cameras but revel in  Large Format Cameras and own 2 beautiful John Nesbitt built field cameras. My intention is to talk about the things that make me set the cameras up and take time to make the best negative I can. In 2026 I set about capturing the world I see with a 10x8 wooden field camera predominantly, but like the process in the field, it is slow. I need to live with an image for a while and quietly make it into the vision I experienced. This also takes time and my goal is not to present work until it is ready to be seen and speaks for me.

I am working on 1 major theme called "Ordinary places", although it has a number of sub themes running through it that will become clear with time. In essence, the things that stop me and compel me to photograph in ordinary places. I don't look for the big vista or the dramatic as such, but sometimes they find me. i have much experience with field cameras and their foibles, and also development and scanning of my work is also done by me personally. I strive for the best print I can from the scanned negative, and my feeling is these should be seen big, so it is not uncommon for my working file to be 60 x 48 inches when printed.
